U.S. support for forgiving federal student loans with various tradeoffs 2022
According to a survey conducted in 2022, 36 percent of Americans would support the government forgiving up to 10,000 U.S. dollars in federal student loans for those who earn less than 150,000 U.S. dollars a year, or less than 300,000 U.S. dollars for married couples, even if it would raise their taxes. In comparison, 56 percent of Democrats and 19 percent of Republicans shared this belief.
