Annual per capita consumption of beef in Norway 2010-2021
Pork consumption
By comparison, Norwegians seemed to like to consume pork rather than beef. During recent years, the annual consumption volume has generally increased. In 2021, it amounted to a volume of roughly 115 thousand metric tons. The annual per capita consumption volume of pork during that year was 21.2 kilograms.
Trend: organic meat
In Norway, it is noticeable that especially the production volume of organic meat grew in past years. It peaked in 2018, reaching approximately 3.1 thousand metric tons of produced meat. Organic meat production means that the farmed animals had free access to pastures and were only fed organic feed during their lives. In addition, they did not get antibiotics, hormones and genetically modified feed.
