If the people surveyed had a WHO-5 score of less than 50, on a scale from 0-100, they were defined as in risk of depression.
The WHO-5 Well-being Index is a questionnaire to calculate the personal well-being.

The percentage of participants indicating financial challenges are those who stated that their households had “difficulty” or “great difficulty” making ends meet.

This survey worked mainly on the EU27 Member States. 
The survey was organized and divided in 5 rounds:
Round 1: 9 April – 11 June 2020
Round 2: 22 June – 27 July 2020
Round 3: 12 February – 31 March 2021
Round 4: 21 October – 30 November 2021 (panel survey)
Round 5: 29 March – 2 May 2022
