Change in methane emissions in Russia 1990-2022, by sector
Methane emissions from Russian's fuel exploitation, waste, and industrial combustion and processes sectors have all observed overall increases in methane emissions since 1990. Russia's industrial combustion and processes-related methane emissions were 77 percent higher in 2022 when compared to 1990 levels, and 83 percent higher when compared to 2005 levels. Meanwhile, Russia's agriculture-related methane emissions have fallen notably when compared to 1990 levels, though have seen little change since 2005.
