Daily time spent on housework by married couples in Japan 2001-2021, by gender
In 2021, the daily average time spent on housework and related tasks among married couples with children aged under six years in Japan amounted to seven hours and 28 minutes for wives and one hour and 54 minutes for husbands. While wives spent nearly four times as much time on housework as husbands, the daily time spent on housework by husbands increased by 31 minutes compared to five years earlier.
