Unemployment rate by autonomous community in Spain Q1 2024
The unemployment rate in Spain was highest in the southern regions as of the first quarter of 2024. During the period under consideration, the autonomous city of Melilla registered Spain's highest unemployment rate at 32.44 percent. Extremadura, a landlocked southern region bordering Portugal, ranked fourth at 17.6 percent. On the other hand, the northern regions, such as the Basque Country or Aragon, had a much lower unemployment rate of less than nine percent.
