POS terminals in the euro area, by year 2000-2022

In 2020, there were around 12.1 million POS (point of sale) terminals in the Eurozone countries. As of the end of 2018, there were approximately 10.8 million point of sale terminals processing cashless payments in the whole Euro area, meaning that there has been a sharp increase. The Eurozone POS terminals account for a large share of the European Union POS terminals, which amounted to almost 16,9 million in 2019.
