Triennial credit card penetration in the Netherlands 2011-2024, by demographic
According to a three-year survey, nearly four out of 10 respondents from the Netherlands owned a credit card in 2021, with 28 percent of them actually having used one. The difference between ownership and usage was roughly 10 percentage points in 2021, a slight increase from a difference of nine percentage points in 2017. The report adds that men were more likely than women to own such a payment card. Gen Z - or the age group 15 to 24 years in this survey - was substantially less likely to own a credit card than their older counterparts.
