Frequency of balanced meals in Japan 2023
Over 38 percent of consumers in Japan ate balanced meals almost every day, as revealed in a survey conducted in November 2023. On the contrary, around 13.6 percent of respondents stated they rarely had two meals composed of a grain product, a protein-based main dish, and a vegetable-based side dish in a day. In its 'Fourth Basic Plan on Promoting Dietary Education', the government targets to increase the percentage of people having balanced meals daily to at least 50 percent by 2025.
