Number of felonies committed in New York City 2000-2022
In 2022, the City of New York experienced a total of 126,589 felonies. This was a large decrease from 2001 when 162,908 felonies were reported. These figures comprise of the seven major categories of felonies that are listed by the New York Police Department (NYPD) for statistical analysis. They are murder and non-negligible manslaughter, rape, robbery, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny, and grand larceny of motor vehicle.
