Deaths due to infectious and parasitic diseases in the Canary Islands 2005-2022
In 2022, the number of deaths due to infectious and parasitic diseases in the Canary Islands amounted to 1,643 cases, up from 879 deaths reported a year prior. This figure showed a significant increase since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, when deaths from infectious and parasitic diseases, including COVID-19, HIV, or viral hepatitis, reached 257 casualties. Nationwide, there were approximately 39,000 deaths resulting from infectious and parasitic diseases in Spain during the last year depicted.
