The amount of gross energy produced from wind power increased over time. The level of production peaked in 2016, while it slightly decreased the following year. Moreover, forecasts show that the production of thermoelectric power from wind plants will remarkably grow until 2030.
Industry data
In 2017, ERG Renew was the major supplier of wind energy in Italy, with an installed capacity of 1,133.6 megawatts. The company accounted for 12.4 percent of the total energy produced from wind plants nationwide. The second and the third main suppliers, Enel and Edison, represented 6.9 percent and 6.2 percent of the total production, respectively.
