Netherlands: online grocery shopping revenue 2021

Based on survey results, the market size of online grocery shopping in the Netherlands increased during the coronavirus pandemic in early 2020. In June 2020, the revenue of Dutch online supermarkets was estimated to be roughly 1.6 billion euros. There were no exact numbers on how many consumers in the Netherlands bought their food or groceries online. In 2019, 36 percent of Dutch households said they ordered groceries online at least once. This is the highest percentage within the European Union. The share of total supermarket revenue that is generated online also increased between 2015 and 2020.
