Cruise passengers at Mediterranean ports 2022

The number of cruise passengers at Mediterranean ports rose significantly in 2022 over the previous year, after falling dramatically with the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, the port of Barcelona in Spain reported the highest cruise passenger volume among the selected Mediterranean ports in 2022, with roughly 2.3 million passengers. While this figure shows a sharp increase compared to 2021, it remained below pre-pandemic levels. In 2022, the ports of Civitavecchia, Fiumicino, and Gaeta in Italy reported the second-highest volume, with around 2.2 million cruise passenger movements.
