Although Primark is the most popular brand of jeans when all retailers are concerned, of the specialist brands the most popular is Levi’s, with an estimated 2.1 million users in Britain.Dating back to the late 1800’s, the American company remains an iconic brand worldwide. In 2021, Levi Strauss’ net sales in Europe increased to 1.7 billion U.S. dollars, which was close to the peak net sales in the past decade.
Leading retailers in the apparel market
The apparel market in the UK is dominated by a handful of familiar big-name retailers. The leading of which is the British institution Marks & Spencer, with a share of 7.6 percent in 2018. However, the company’s shares have fallen by two percent in the past 10 years as the company struggles to adapt to new consumer habits. There are plans for 100 of its stores to close by 2022.In comparison, Primark’s shares have increased from 4.4 percent to seven percent in the same time period.
