Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) had the largest carbon footprint of any international airport in North America in 2019, with emissions totaling 18.7 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (MtCO₂). John F. Kennedy airport followed in second place, with emissions of 14.7 MtCO₂.
