Number of mental health hospital beds in Africa 2017-2020

A survey conducted in 2020 revealed that the number of care beds in mental hospitals in Africa amounted to 3.7 per 100,000 population. In 2017, the count was measured at two hospital beds per 100,000 population. Usually, nurses constitute the majority of health workers in mental hospitals in the continent.
