In 2021, the majority of survey respondents felt that the most prevalent way disinformation spread was through social media users. Approximately 84 percent of participants had this sentiment. At the same time, nearly 70 percent of people felt that news media and journalists sometimes or often spread false information. Government officials were seen as the group distributing the lowest incorrect information.
