In a 2020 survey of GPs in Australia, 65 percent of GPs who did not work in aged care indicated that they would be encouraged to work in the sector if there was better remuneration via Medicare Benefits Scheme item numbers in aged care. Over 50 percent also indicated that IT infrastructure and administrative burden were also holding them back from working in aged care.
