Share of NHS England staff experiencing abuse or physical violence 2016-2023
In 2023, over a quarter of surveyed NHS staff had experienced harassment, bullying, or abuse at work from a patient/service user, a connection to that service user, or other members of the public in the past 12 months. For those in Ambulance Trusts, the share is much higher. Around 15 percent of staff also reported experiencing physical violence, and again, staff within Ambulance Trusts were more likely to report such.
