Number of new people internally displaced in Tanzania 2008 to 2020
In 2020, the number of new internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Tanzania reached 57,000, increasing by 11,000 from the previous year and reaching an all-time high since 2008. Each year, the number of people forced to flew their houses fluctuated mostly in tens of thousands due to natural catastrophes in the country. Tanzania is often hit by floods and drought. Due to its geographical position, the country is also affected by earthquakes from time to time.
