The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic made it significantly more difficult for consumers in the United States to spend disposable income on travel, dining out, and other in-person experiences. Subsequently, many consumers turned their attention to other hobbies to fill the entertainment void. In 2021, the degree to which U.S. consumers collected non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as a hobby or investment varied by gender. Men were the most likely to collect non-fungible tokens, with 15 percent of respondents stating that this was the case. Meanwhile, only 4 percent of women stated that they collected non-fungible tokens.
