Global emails sent per person per day pre and post-COVID lockdown 2020, by week
One week after lockdown in 2020, employees sent almost 30 emails per day per person. In contrast, one week before lockdown, employees sent around 27 emails per day per person. Accounting for eight weeks after the lockdown, employees sent approximately five percent more emails a day, while around eight percent more emails were sent after business hours on average. This increase is likely due to work from home policies, due to which employees adjust their work patterns. Instead of being able to communicate in the physical office space, employees must use emails, for example, to stay connected.
