Global renewable capacity additions outlook by region/country 2018-2021
Global renewable electricity capacity additions have steadily been rising in recent years. However, growth is expected to slow down in 2020 due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The virus impacted construction and supply chains during government sanctioned lockdowns, resulting in additions of 166.7 gigawatts compared to 191.9 gigawatts installed the previous year. Projections for 2021 show the sector will recover.
