Share of people engaged in panic buying due to COVID-19 Japan 2020
Rakuten Insight in April 2020 on panic buying after the coronavirus outbreak, around 95 percent of Japanese respondents stated that they had not engaged in panic buying because of the coronavirus pandemic, while about five percent of respondents did. In the same survey, the majority of respondents who engaged in panic buying indicated that they stocked up on dry food items such as rice, noodles, pasta, and flour, or hygiene paper products such as toilet paper, paper towels, and tissues.
