According to a survey, in 2018, work salaries were the main source of income for 77.4 percent of households in the Dominican Republic. Two out of ten surveyed households reported their main income to be transfers such as remittances, retirement pensions and social allowances, while 2.7 percent of households in the Caribbean country gained their main income from property rentals or capital gains.
