On-the-spot mobile usage while driving prosecutions by Delhi traffic police 2014-2022
In 2022, the number of on-the-spot prosecutions for mobile usage while driving made by the Delhi traffic police in India was around 25 thousand. That year, two-wheelers had the highest number of traffic violations across the capital city. In 2022, over 44 percent of the victims killed in road accidents in Delhi, were pedestrians. Lack of foot-over bridges, pedestrian crossings and lax road safety rules could be the reasons for such accidents.
