In 2019, Bangladesh had the highest prevalence of female child marriage across the Asia-Pacific region, as over 45 percent of girls and young women between the ages of 15 and 19 years in the country were married or had been married before. In contrast, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore all had female child marriage shares of below one percent.
