Get in touch with us nowThe revenue intake from envrionmental taxes in the European Union was 320 billion euros in 2022, having increased by aprroximately 40 billion euros sinceten years prior when the environmental tax intake was closer to 280 billion euros. In spite of this long-term trend towards increases in environmental tax revenues, the total level of revenues has yet to reach its pre-pandemic high point recorded in 2019 of over 331 billion euros. the vast majority of envrionmental taxation revenues come from taxes on energy, at 248 billion euros in 2022, with a smaller share accounted for by transport taxes, at 60 billion euros, and taxes on pollution at 12.3 billion euros.
