African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights' urgent appeals number 2018-2020
The African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR or African Commission) is one of the main human right bodies on the African continent and operates within the institutional framework of the African Union. Between July 2019 and June 2020, the African Commission sent 14 urgent appeals to State Parties in nine African countries, representing a significant decrease compared to the previous period. The Commission received only four responses from the State Parties. The appeals regarded the plight of specific individuals or the general human rights situation.
