Estimated number of adults with undiagnosed diabetes in China 2015-2021
One in two adult diabetics in China was unware of their health condition. In 2021, the country was estimated to have about 72.8 million adults aged from 20 to 79 years living with undiagnosed diabetes (mostly type two diabetes), accounting for about 52 percent of the total diabetic population in China. Without any symptoms shown, a person with type two diabetes can live for several years, often leading to complications like chronic kidney disease or heart failure.
