Fossil energy and petroleum dependency rate Japan FY 2011-2022
In the fiscal year 2022, the dependency rate on fossil energy in Japan reached approximately 83.4 percent, while the petroleum dependency rate was around 36.1 percent. Dependency rate on both fossil energy and petroleum increased from fiscal 2011 to 2012 after the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred in March 2011. Since fiscal 2012, however, both of the ratios continuously declined.
